May you find comfort in the memories you shared and the love that will always remain.
It’s said that those we love never truly leave us, and I like to think that somewhere beyond the gates, his faithful dog Karly is waiting with a wagging tail, ready to greet him once again, reunited and at peace.
Thinking of your family during this difficult time. ❤️
Rest in Peace, Mr Paulie. 🕊️
My friend Paul Lennard—Lenny to those of us who knew him well—and I served together in the Navy aboard HMAS Brisbane. We were very close mates during those years, but as often happens, life took us in different directions and we drifted apart. Even so, that’s the thing about Navy friendships. You can go years without seeing each other, but the moment you meet again, it’s as if no time has passed at all. Lenny had a wicked sense of humour, could strike up a conversation with anyone, and always had something interesting to say. He wasn’t afraid to stand up and be counted, and people respected him for that. We shared some unforgettable times together in ports across South East Asia, with plenty of laughs and stories that will stay with me forever. I was deeply saddened and shocked to hear of his passing, and like many of us, I wish I’d made the time to catch up with him one more time. Lenny, thank you for your friendship and the memories. Rest easy, mate. I’m sure that when we run into each other again, it’ll be like nothing’s changed, and we’ll be straight back into pulling the piss out of each other. Until then, fair winds and following seas.
